The month of August has always been a pretty slow and uninspiring month for me over the years, I find that I am holding my breathe waiting for spring to start, especially when it comes to new merchandise in stores. During this time though I am very much working behind the scenes meeting new designers, going to interesting pop up’s and creating content for my blog and up coming events so that I can keep you posted on the latest trends in fashion and accessories. I am going to be shooting “how to wear” the white jeans in 2 weeks time, a look at sexy underwear, my next “what to wear” series for spring and more you tube videos, so do stay tuned.
In the meantime I have done some shopping but more on the accessories and shoe front. Have a look at my latest purchases.
I met the lovely Nicola from Apis Atelier (https://www.apisatelier.com/) at a pop up event held at Tintswalo in Hout Bay a few weeks back. Nicola originally a photographer turned her talent to creating beautiful bespoke pieces of jewellery inspired by the sea. She uses an eclectic mix of objects that she has found over the years generated by the sea such as Puka shells from Hawaii and coral from Mauritius, each piece tells a story. Her pieces are unique and all made by hand. This one above is my absolute favourite as the colour stone mixes and matches with all my other jewellery.
I love discovering new local designers and Hannah Lavery of (https://www.hannahlavery.co.za/) is one of those talented designers. I have had my eye on these nude mules for a very long time now, they are so popular that the first batch she made sold out fast but she has recently got them back in stock, they also come in black. Hannah has a classic and contemporary approach to her designs, relying on the shape of the body and texture of the fabric to lead the design process. I can’t wait for her to launch her spring/summer collection. She has a shop at the new Watershed shops in the V&A or you can shop her collection online.
I don’t often get a chance to visit Canal Walk but I did 2 weeks back with a friend and popped in to see the Dune (http://www.dunelondon.com/) shoe shop after having been to their launch and, well I shouldn’t have! I fell in love with these Jocelyn mules above (mules are big for summer), they look fab worn with skinny jeans be it denim or white. I like the fact that only parts of the foot is exposed for now in this weather.
