If you have been following my Facebook and Instagram feeds you would have noticed that I recently got back from an awesome trip to Morocco with my girlfriend Belinda from Bella Flowers. It is an understatement to say just how much we loved it and I would honestly return in a heartbeat. If any of you have the same wanderlust for travel that we both have, then read on and make Marrakesh your next holiday destination!

Our journey began on an Air France flight with a transfer out of Paris, which was the quickest route to Marrakesh with minimal time spent in airports. We split our time between Marrakesh and Essaouira; a small coastal fishing town about 2 hours outside of Marrakesh.

The idea was to go and soak up the culture, food and sun, and to relax (which we did) amongst some great shopping in the souks and medina. There weren’t many clothes to buy but I was pleasantly surprised by some of the trendy styled shoes and leather handbags we saw. In fact, we by chance visited a tannery (a smelly experience but a good one), as Marrakesh is renowned for their leather products, which we, of course, bought into!

After 3 wonderful days in Marrakesh, we went onto Essaouira which was quieter and far cooler in temperature. Here, we enjoyed a 24-hour desert experience, which was a splendid oasis in the middle of the arid land. We also got to ride a camel!

Before jetting off home, we had the pleasure of staying at The Beldi Country Club, which is beyond words of description; it is just so incredibly stunning. Here, we got to experience a traditional bathing ritual; the Hamam and also enjoyed a relaxing massage.

We dined at some lovely trendy restaurants and also sampled some of the local market’s street food; all super tasty. We also paid the YSL museum a visit, as well as The Majorelle Gardens and palaces, which is a feast for the eyes with all the tiling, ornate doors and elaborately painted ceilings.

We came back inspired and ready to tackle the rest of the year ahead.
