Military inspiration

I went to the V&A last week particularly to see what is in stores at Zara and H&M at the moment. There is a definite shift in fashion of moving away from summer into transitional A/W pieces. I noticed lots of light weight knit pieces in Zara, H&M and Poetry, sneakers are still very much around and on trend and already I am seeing loads of coats!! Most of the main retailers will launch proper winter in mid March but I always tend to find the best pieces early on in the season, like these below. There is a definite military inspired trend happening this season and I have always been partial to khaki green as a colour.

I wouldn’t suggest wearing khaki/military from head to toe, break it up with lots of white or cream to keep it fresh and even black as we get closer to winter.

I don’t know what it is exactly but I love this jacket from Zara, maybe its the medals that make me feel like a winner! 🙂 No seriously, wear it unbuttoned over a white shirt or t shirt and team with your favourite pair of denims, combine with tan shoes and accessories and get ahead of the trend.

The slip on loafer reared it’s fashionable head last season already and continues to be a big trend going forward, taking inspiration from the original Gucci slip on below. A great mid season shoe.

Original Gucci slip on’s as seen on all the latest international fashionistas.

Loving these khaki material sneakers from Zara, team with above jacket instead of tan accessories.

I found these khaki pants at Cotton On, they are made from the softest fabric (tencile for those in the know, it is like a thicker viscose) so they drape beautifully. They are very chic, stylish and comfortable with an elasticated waist and cuff detail on the hem.

First seen here at Off the Rails.
